Short Forecast for all New Zealand
The northern half of the North Island, that's from North Taranaki, Ruapehu and Gisborne northwards: Fine and cloudy periods. Scattered showers, mainly in the afternoons and evenings. Isolated thunderstorms from southern Auckland to Taumarunui today, with localised downpours and hail.

South Taranaki to Wellington, also Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa: Fine, but cloud increasing tomorrow.

Marlborough and Nelson, Mostly fine. Isolated showers inland today.

Buller and Westland: Cloudy areas. Isolated showers inland today. Rain developing later tomorrow.

Canterbury and Otago: Mostly fine, but low cloud or fog about the Canterbury coast and plains overnight. A period of showers later tomorrow, with a strong southerly change.

Southland and Fiordland: Cloudy areas. A few light showers near the south coast today. A period of rain tomorrow, followed by strong cold southwesterlies, showers and snow to 400 metres.

Chatham Islands: Cloudy periods.
Extended Short Forecast for all New Zealand
Friday: North Island, rain or showers in the north and west clearing, cold and showery in the east, and the south at first. South Island, fine or becoming fine in the north and west, showers elsewhere gradually clearing.

Saturday: North Island, showers about Gisborne and Hawkes Bay at first. South Island, cloud increasing in the west and drizzle developing, turning to rain in Fiordland, mainly fine in the east but high cloud increasing in the south.

Sunday: North Island, mainly fine, cloud increasing in the west and rain from Wellington to Taranaki later. South Island, rain spreading from the south to most places, then clearing in the west and easing to a few showers in the east and south.

Chatham Islands: Showers on Friday and Saturday. Strong cold southwesterlies developing on Friday, and easing during Saturday. Cloudy periods and westerlies on Sunday.
